Sealy Soybean Foam-Core Crib Mattress

  • Soy-based high-density foams provide reduced sagging and increased durability to provide firm support for sleeping infants
  • Entire cover and lock-stitched binding are wet-resistant and wipe clean, preventing allergens from clinging to the mattress
  • Square-cut corners for snug fit in cribs and can move to a toddle bed as your child grows
  • Lightweight to easily change sheets
  • Soybeans are a renewable resource and grown in the USA

This Sealy crib mattress is the premier foam crib mattress. The Sealy Soybean Foam Core Crib Mattress is lightweight with high density foam made with soybeans. The foam core offers improved durability over conventional foams. The high density foam reduces sagging and provides durability for firm support. The entire cover and lock-stitched binding are wet resistant and wipe clean, preventing allergens from clinging to the crib mattress. This Sealy baby mattress has square-cut corners for snug fit in cribs and can move to a toddler bed as your child grows.

www.amazon.com This crib mattress also has an airflow pocket so the mattress can “breathe” without the traditional small metal parts. The Sealy Soybean foam core crib mattress uses renewable resources instead of crude oils. There is a lifetime warranty on workmanship and materials for this crib mattress. This Sealy crib mattress also meets or exceeds federal flammability and CPSIA standards. Sealy crib mattresses are made in the USA.

: Which Sealy crib mattress should I get? Foam vs Coils?
I’m trying to decide between 3 Sealy crib mattresses. Does anyone have one of these? How do you like it?

All are phthalate compliant and do not contain toxic fire retardants or chemicals.

1. Sealy Sealy Soybean Foam-Core – Eco-friendly, Hypoallergenic, Lightweight
2. Sealy Naturalis – 150 Coils, Organic Cotton, Hypoallergenic
3. Sealy Crown Jewel – 220 Coils

Need advice because baby is coming soon! Thanks!!

I ordered this mattress for our nursery because I thought the soybean foam would be more eco-friendly and have less off-gassing than typical foam mattresses. I knew that the outside was vinyl, which I didn’t like. However, the low price and all the excellent reviews convinced me to buy anyways. When I got the mattress, it was as pictured and in good condition, with no smell, so I got rid of the box. I also like that it is firm and very light-weight.

Now, a few weeks later and I’m actually getting the crib ready, I see the tag says 27% cotton felt and 73% Polyurethane foam. Not a single mention of soy or soybean on the label. So I did a little more research into soy-based foams, and it turns out that companies can call their foam “Soybean-based” even if it has as little as 5% soy in it. Nowhere online can I find exactly how much of this mattress is made of soybean foam.

If I had kept all the packaging, I would be returning this for something that has a fabric shell and is more honest in the description. Unfortunately, I can’t, so I am stuck with it because we can’t afford to buy another mattress. If you are thinking of buying, just be aware of what you are actually getting.

I just recently purchased this mattress after a lot of research. In my search I had a hard time deciding whether this mattress was truly organic and without chemicals. The cover is made of vinyle-laminate which is the only part of this mattress thats makes it not completely organic. Sealy does however state that the cover although vinyl-laminate is phthalate and flammability compliant and does not contain toxic fire retardants. Sealy makes the exact same mattress called the Sealy Soybean Foam-Core Dream which is made with a cotton cover. I was able to find this mattress at Bed Bath & Beyond and Buy Buy Baby websites fot about 160$ plus shipping. Sealy’s website is also helpful at [...]. I am overall happy with this mattress and its practicality.

Here are the specs from Sealys web site:

*Soy based foam-core offers improved durability over conventional foams and uses renewable resources resulting in the use of less crude oils.
*Soybean foam is CertiPUR-US® certified and has been tested for indoor air emissions, durability and substances including phthalates, formaldehyde, PBDEs, lead and other chemicals
*Entire cover and lock-stitched binding wipe clean preventing allergens from clinging to the mattress
*Lightweight making it easy to change sheets
*Soybeans are a renewable resource grown in the USA
*Cover is wet-resistant and cleans easily
*Square cut corners provides snug fit in cribs
*Mattress also fits toddler bed frames
*Lifetime warranty on workmanship and materials
*Entire mattress is phthalate and flammability compliant and does not contain toxic fire retardants

Sealy® Soybean Product Specifications*51.625″ L x 27.25″ W*Soybean foam is CertiPUR-US® certified and has been tested for indoor air emissions, durability and substances including phthalates, formaldehyde, PBDEs, lead and other chemicals

answerWhat is the foam’s density?
Sealy Soybean Foam-Core is a 1.5 pound density foam so it is firm and durable enough for infants yet offers a comfortable feel. This mattress has been durability tested up to 240 pounds and is CertiPur-US approved.

answerWhat is the cover made of?
This Sealy Soybean Foam-Core is made with a wet-proof vinyl laminate cover. Also available are additional Sealy soybean foam crib mattresses models with fabric covers including the Soybean Dream.

Hope this helps!

This mattress seems to hit a nice median point in terms of being earth friendly, safe for your child, and reasonably priced. I did some research and found that this little mattress was able to provide the best safety from harmful chemicals in the middle price range. It was(is) neither too expensive nor cheap. I think it was $150.00. It does have a plastic casing which makes it not totally safe, but better than the average. My baby girl sleeps well on it and I sleep better knowing she is as safe – as safe as I can make her without buying a $400.00 mattress.
